The Body of Christ Comes Together
We may not be able to meet to encourage each other as we usually do, but that doesn’t mean that the body of Christ is dead! Rather, during this difficult time many of our members have already been supporting one another in a variety of ways, and many who haven’t have indicated to do so in whatever ways are needed. So, are you or someone you know in need? Are you considered at “high risk” and are concerned about going out in public to gather necessary supplies? Do you find yourself growing lonely or depressed while you sit in your home and wait for this pandemic to pass? If so, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO CONTACT YOUR PASTORS so that they can arrange for you to get the help you need! We may not be able to hug you these days (not that we ever did a whole lot of hugging... 😊), but you sure don’t have to go through this alone! Your Head, Christ, is always with you—controlling all things for the good of his church—and the members of his body are here and ready to assist as well. Call us! Offerings During Lockdown
Thank you to those who have been continuing to support the ministry and servants of Christ Lutheran Church and School during the pandemic lockdown. It is wonderful to see that in such trying times people are still taking to heart the words of Jesus, “Seek first his Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33). If you haven’t already done so, now may also be the perfect time to sign up for online giving. You may do so by clicking here or going to christeagleriver.org and clicking on the “GIVE” tab. The service is free and easy to set up. You can set up one time or recurring donations. If you need help, please don’t hesitate to call the church office and someone can assist you. If you aren’t comfortable with online giving, it would be helpful if you mailed in your offerings (Christ Lutheran Church, 201 N 3rd. St., Eagle River, WI, 54521) as office hours are limited and personal contact ought to be kept to a minimum.
Jacob Zimmermann Returns Call
The following is the letter from Mr. Zimmerman dated March 19, 2020.
Members of Christ Lutheran:
After prayerful deliberation, I have decided to return the Call extended to me. I appreciate and am thankful for having had the opportunity to revisit where I might best use my time, talents, and treasures. This was not an easy deliberation. There are a lot of very positive things happening there. May God continue to bless your ministry there going forward. Additionally, this letter is being sent out amidst uncertain and historic times. May God be with you and your families as we navigate this pandemic.
Your Brother in Christ,
Church Council Votes Not to Continue Calling Full-time Teacher/Principal for 2020/2021 School Year
Due to the extraordinary uncertainty surrounding the financial situation of our country and our church, upon recommendation of the Board of Christian Education, the Christ Lutheran Church Council voted unanimously to discontinue the calling process for a principal and upper grade teacher for the 2020/2021 school year. The Board of Education is considering alternative staffing options and will make a recommendation to the church council on their April 6 online meeting.
